Castanyada (Part II)

Hi everybody! How was your weekend? I had such an awesome one and I'm back full of energy to focus on my final exams that are approaching.. Next post will be about this weekend adventure :)

But first, I have more pics of our "Castanyada" to share. The lovely house we stayed in was surrounded by beautiful fields, mountains and trees full of ripe fruit. Idyllic place to go for a quiet walk with all these colorful leafs, isn't it?

Here is my parents big car! That is a new detail about me you probably still don't know: my parents and I are big 4x4 fans and we love driving through the mountains and specially through the desert. I'll show you more about this hobby in future posts!
Sometimes (very few times, to be true) they let me take it away. That day I convinced them and my friends were pretty amazed because of it's size!

After lunch and a quiet nap by the fire it was time for the desired chestnuts. They can be picked from the forest or bought in the market, which was our option that time. You have to do a cut in each one or otherwise they'll explode when they're in the fire. To brown them you need a pan full of holes and it has to be done in the flames, not the ambers. When they turn black like if they were burnt (BUT don't let them actually burn) you have to get them away from the fire and wrap them in newspaper. After a few mins they'll be perfectly cooked. Peel and enjoy!

Browned chestnuts are a delightful autumn pleasure! If you can, try them!
The perfect end for our lovely country day with friends.
