Random Paris

Last May I received an amazing birthday gift from my boyfriend: a weekend in Paris. We had a lovely time there, specially because it was our first time together in the city. Soon I'll post the main pictures of the trip but first I wanted to share these special ones. I think they describe precisely what Paris is, what it means, it's essence.

The story starts with these soft, colorful and delicious little macaroons...

I have to say... that... couldn't avoid taking a couple of them home with me! And are now hanging in my bedroom wall.

I would love to live in one of those attics..who wouldn't?

Probably my favorite flowers, peonies.

These charming ice-creams were made with love by a friend of mine who's currently living in Paris, and we walked and walked until we found the ice-cream shop she's working in. By the way, they were super delicious, J! :)

Romantic movie moment!! Can you find ours?

The crazy thing is that there are people selling the padlocks in the bridge, all types and shapes. And after buying, they even lend you the marker: black, red or blue, your choice. Astonishing commercial vision, huh?

Magnets! All those who have been at my place know that the fridge is covered with magnets from all over the world! We've been kind of collecting them from everywhere we've travelled. It started unintentionally when I was a child but it's pretty serious now: literally, all covered. Maybe our fridge deserves a post.. could be funny, I'll do it!

And the little tour ends with cute macaroons too. :)

Trekking near the city

Last weekend I had a lot of work from uni but luckily on Sunday afternoon I could escape to do some trekking in a beautiful hill next to our city, Sant Miquel. It's nice to have such a beautiful piece of nature near home because when you have a couple of free hours you can easily spend them walking through the forest breathing pure air and enjoying the views from up there.

The main road is wide and easy, just a relaxed nice walk.

However, we always decide to take the "short" way...

...which is much more sheer!! The good thing is that it's the perfect way to tone up your bottom and legs, let's keep it positive!

After more or less 1 hour going up, there we are! From the tower's rooftop the views are amazing: we can see our city, other near villages and if the sky is cloudless even our beloved "Mediterrani". That day we could also enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Our best outfits and red faces... A bit tired but very happy! I introduce you to my boyfriend L and my lovely friends N and P :)

The perfect way to stop thinking about problems. I would go there every single weekend :)

Tarte Tatin

This summer some of my friends came home to have dinner together. Everyone had to bring something delicious and I went for those mini Tatins. We had a lovely evening chatting and sharing our tasty creations. Here goes the recipe of this cute little pie.

To make 6 mini Tatins, you'll need:

-7 Granny Smith apples
-80 gr butter
-180 gr suggar
-1 puff pastry (available at main supermarkets)
- THAT'S ALL!:)

Peel the apples and cut each one in eight parts. Grab a big pan and slowly melt the butter. After that, add the apples and throw the sugar.

Now we have to simmer them. It is very important to stir carefully because it will get soft and we want to keep their shape. No hurries! We want a slowly cooking until it looks caramelized like this:

Mmmm...yummy!
Try one (ooonly one) and if it's smooth and tastes like the perfect mixture of sour and sweet, our apples are ready. Let's move on, fill the cooking molds with care and above all, don't smash them. If we try to keep their shape it will look pretty nicer after.

Pastry's time. Extend it and cut 6 circles, they should be a little bigger than the cooking molds. (That day I only could fit 5 though..)

Put the pastry circles on top of every mini Tatin so it gets completely covered. A finger may be helpful. Oops!

They need about 30 mins in the oven at 180ยบ, BUT before you have to pinch a little bit the pastry with a fork. This is to avoid a huge growth... as it happened to me that day...

Beginner's mistake... I know... we were looking for a flat surface instead of that fluffy dented one. However, the flavor was sooo good, as I expected:)
It's better to serve them still a little bit hot so they are in their best moment.
Easy peasy.

And enjoy!

Hi everybody!
Today I'm finally starting a blog! I've been all summer thinking about it but never seemed to find the time...and now, with a degree and a master's degree going on with full of exams and projects to hand in I jump into this new adventure with plenty of joy and happiness, probably at the worst moment ever but I felt that I needed it! I was really looking forward to it!
It's not that I have fascinating or astonishing adventures to share, just my thoughts and the special or nice moments that I get to enjoy everyday, or at least I try to.
So, welcome to my little slice of the Internet! Let's see where this new experience brings me! Wanna joint? :)
